From GroupScript documentation

The procedure of moving script to another server is fairly simple, and can be divided in three steps:

  1. Downloading script and database from current server
  2. Uploading script and creating database on the new server
  3. Modifying the configuration of script on the new server

Downloading script and database from current server

The easiest way to download the script is via FTP.

  1. Log in to your FTP server, and download all script files. Remember to use binary transfer mode in your FTP client's settings.
  2. Log in to your hosting's cPanel, go to phpMyAdmin, select your database, and export it. Use the following settings when exporting the data:
  • Check foreign keys = 0
  • Structure = 1
  • Data = 1

Uploading script and creating database on the new server

  1. Upload all the files to your new hosting via FTP. Remember to use binary transfer mode in your FTP client's settings.
  2. Create a new database via cPanel on the new server. Write down database name, username and password for the new database- you will need that later.
  3. Import the old database.

Modifying the configuration of script on the new server

  1. Open up system/application/config/database_local.php on your new server, and change the database name, username, and password to match the values you wrote down in previous step.
